The World Uyghur Congress called the Beijing Olympic 2022 an event of genocide. Many times, people from different countries have criticized the Chinese government for their own people’s abusive treatment.
Dick Pound, the IOC member from Canada, said that there would be no effect anyway if athletes don’t participate in the Beijing Olympics. Moreover, he added that the Olympics is not an event of China. It is the IOC event. The decision to arrange the Olympic games in China is not approving or supporting the Chinese government policies.
Uighurs, Hong Kong, Tibet, and other countries also send a demanding boycott on Beijing Olympics. They do not want to be part of humans rights violations done by the Chinese government.

It is on the Northwestern side of China. Those people have been facing mass indoctrination, surveillance, forced sterilization, and detention.
The Chinese government denied all of these accusations. They claimed that there was no detention in Xinjiang’s camps. The government is only teaching vocational courses here and not into abusiveness.
Beijing Olympic can be same as Berlin Olympic
Dorjee Tseten, who signed the letter, and a student from Tibet called the incidents unfortunate. He compared it to the nazi Olympics 82 years ago in 1936.
He added that the Berlin Olympic kind of legitimized the violence of Hitler at that time. It was almost supporting the genocide created by the Nazis. So it is important to boycott the Beijing Olympics. It will send a strong message to the country against their abuse of human rights, violation of freedom and democracy.
According to Zumretay Arkin from Uyghur Congress said that the IOC overlooked their sufferings. Now they are looking forward to the government. They hope the government will boycott the Olympics and stand for humanity.
IOC Vice President doesn’t support the course of action of the boycott
Vice President, IOC didn’t give much attention to the criticism. He said that they have a perception to create a middle Road communication between countries. Times could be difficult as the conflicts would also be severe but continuing the cycle is what everyone must look forward to.
Humane rights activists asked the IOC to arrange the Olympics elsewhere. The event will happen in six months after the summer games in Tokyo. The delay happened in the summer game too.
Pound commented that he sees no option to arrange the Olympics if everyone shows such a stand now. There was also a summer game in China in 2008.
He conveyed that countries can have their diplomatic procedures to boycott. But athletes should participate no matter whatever happens.
He said that Ambassadors could choose to opt-out of the games. The countries can have consular functions. They can stand by their protest in various other ways too. There should not be any reason to suspend the sports. It will not go by the philosophy of sports.
Earlier the United States of America didn’t allow their athletes in the summer games in 1980 in the Soviet Union. The USSR also led the boycott as revenge in the 1984 Olympics, Los Angeles.
Pound said that if people think calmly, it will come to the fact that boycotting the games will not have any impact whatsoever. The world has already seen that.
It will hardly change any of the conduct. There’s no reason that athletes should sacrifice their careers and dream. Eventually, there will be no effect on the actual agenda of the boycott.
Boycott Beijing Olympic 2022 – IOC rule 50 doesn’t allow athletes to protest
According to the rule 50 of The IOC, no athletes can protest at the Olympic games’ venue. Many people are assuming that it will be a quite difficult situation for the competitors.
The general secretary, advocacy group Global Athlete, said that in this scenario, by default, athletes will have to bear all the blame. They can’t deny any rules of IOC as a matter of fact.
He said that there must be a declaration from UN regarding human rights. All country’s committees of the National Olympics should demand that declaration. Athletes must not suffer due to this position.
Athletes should have a choice but, rule 50 declines that. So declaration is important.
