Disney+ Hotstar will not be available on TV to non-subscribers from September
Disney+ Hotstar is all set to do away with its freemium model on TV cometh mid-September which will force Smart TV users to get a subscription to watch Disney+ Hotstar content on TV. Disney+ Hotstar has started notifying its users streaming on Smart TV to get a subscription to enjoy watching Disney+ Hotstar.
The change will come into effect from mid-September and will not apply to Chromecast devices. The move will be applicable on Fire TV devices. Smart TV browsers are said to not support all content protection protocols which are why all Disney+ Hotstar content will not work on them. DRM protected content is only playable in a secure environment to ensure that the content cannot be copied, transferred, or modified in any way.
Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription currently costs Rs 399 offering 1-year access to Multiplex blockbusters, Disney+ shows, movies, and dubbed kids content, exclusive Hotstar Specials, Live Sports including Cricket, Premier League & Formula 1 along with access to latest episodes of Indian TV Shows at 6 AM every day.
Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscription currently costs Rs 299/month or Rs 1499/year offering access to Multiplex blockbusters, Disney+ Originals, movies, and kids content, un-cut, and ad-free latest American shows and movies, exclusive Hotstar Specials, Live Sports including Cricket, Premier League & Formula 1 along with access to latest episodes of Indian TV Shows at 6 AM every day.
