Bangkok is a fascinating place that has so much to offer, but to the uninitiated it can be very overwhelming. This bustling metropolis is 1,568.7 square kilometres in size and is home to over 10-million people! As such, deciding on where to live can be a difficult process.

If you are thinking about moving to Bangkok and haven’t yet settled on an area, this is the article for you. We’re going to look at the Chatuchak neighbourhood and all of the amazing things it has to offer.

World-class shopping

Chatuchak is home to the largest outdoor market in all of south-east Asia: Chatuchak Market (aka JJ-Market). Naturally, this is a shopper’s paradise. You can buy anything from designer clothing, hand-crafted goods, artwork, and antiques, to kitchenware, bags, fabrics, and souvenirs.

But it’s not just the immense market in Chatuchak; there are loads of shopping malls for you to peruse, from J.J Mall, to the Metro Mall MRT in Chatuchak Park.

Exceptional food

There is plenty of amazing food to be had in and around Chatuchak market. Whether you are looking for a world-class restaurant or you are happy sampling the local cuisine from the many street stalls, you’ll find no shortage of delicious food in this neighbourhood. You can even find a yummy selection of vegan and vegetarian restaurants about as well!

Great hangout spots

Chatuchak has plenty of amazing hangout spots, bars, and cafés for when you want to get out and enjoy some socialising in the local community.

An amazing art scene

Bangkok has an incredible art scene and Chatuchak has a number of stunning art galleries that you can visit. If you love soaking up culture and admiring wonderful art, we recommend checking out the Numgthong Gallery – one of Bangkok’s best known art dealers.

Plenty of greenery

In an otherwise ‘concrete jungle’, Chatuchak Park offers some respite and escapism from all of the hustle and bustle. It’s perfect for those who love to get outside and enjoy some cardio!

Tonnes of accommodation

Chatuchak is a large neighbourhood with many different accommodation options for you to choose from. Check out Life Ladprao Valley if you want to get a good idea of the quality of property that’s available to rent and purchase in the area.

Reputable international schools

Particularly if you are planning to move with your family, you’ll be pleased to learn that Chatuchak has a variety of reputable and well-established international schools for your children to attend. The level of education available in many of these international schools is world-class!

Decent public transport

There are many public transport options available in Chatuchak, allowing you to get around the neighbourhood – and access the rest of the city – with relative ease. The Mo Chit BTS Sky train station is well-situated and easy to reach.

As far as Bangkok neighbourhoods go, Chatuchak is definitely up there as being one of the best. If you are seriously considering moving to Bangkok, we’d recommend keeping this amazing location in mind.
