DD Retro New Channel From Doordarshan

Riding high on the successful re-telecast of old classic shows like Ramayana and Mahabharata, the state-owned broadcaster Prasar Bharti has now launched a replacement channel DD Retro which is devoted to specifically telecasting old classics, reports Livemint.

Taking to Twitter to announce the launch of its new channel, the general public broadcaster tweeted, “To relive the nostalgia of your favorite memorable serials of Doordarshan, watch DD Retro.”

The development comes as last week Doordarshan emerged because the most-watched channel of India with its viewership topping the charts and beating all other Hindi-centric channels. The viewership of the channel was reported to spike the very best and beat the other genre within the Hindi-speaking markets sometimes when the epic Ramayana is aired.

It should be noted that Doordarshan’s viewership at the 9 AM and 9 PM slots when Ramayana is aired were found to possess grown 60 times over the last fortnight. Similarly, the re-telecast of Mahabharat at 12 PM and seven PM slots have led to a surge of over 208 times within the viewership.

The Government had previously decreed on all the DTH providers and cable operators to hold all the Doordarshan channels. The telecast of the newly launched DD Retro would even be ensured under an equivalent decree.

चैनल की सामग्री लाइन-अप में ‘रामायण’, ‘महाभारत’, ‘चाणक्य’, ‘उपनिषद गंगा’, ‘शक्तिमान’, ‘श्रीमति श्रीमति’ और शाहरुख खान का ‘सर्कस’ शामिल हैं। उपनिषद गंगा सोमवार से शुक्रवार को सुबह 9 बजे प्रसारित होगा। चाणक्य सोमवार से शुक्रवार रात 9 बजे प्रसारित करेंगे। महाभारत सोमवार से शुक्रवार रात 8 बजे प्रसारित होगा। तीनों शो आज रात से प्रसारित होने लगेंगे।

डीडी नेशनल ने BARC रेटिंग्स के सप्ताह 13 में शैलियों में शीर्ष स्थान हासिल करके एक प्रमुख मील का पत्थर बनाया था। रामायण के पुन: प्रसारण ने चैनल को शीर्ष स्थान पर पहुंचा दिया था। चैनल ने दंगल को अखिल भारतीय आधार पर नंबर 1 चैनल बनने के लिए तैयार किया।

डीडी नेशनल के अलावा, डीडी भारती ने भी महाभारत के पुन: प्रसारण के लिए दर्शकों की संख्या में भारी वृद्धि देखी थी। 2+ HSM के सप्ताह 13 BARC के आंकड़ों के अनुसार, डीडी नेशनल पर रामायण ने 545.8 मिलियन इंप्रेशन प्राप्त किए हैं, जबकि महाभारत ने डीडी भारती पर 145.8 मिलियन इंप्रेशन प्राप्त किए हैं।
