A Brief History of Nike Air Max
Before we buy Nike Air Max 90, let’s go back in time a little bit. There was an Australian coach named Frank Burroughs. He believed that athletes ran faster when they weren’t weighed down by heavy shoes.
His methods became very popular with professional athletes like Steve Prefontaine.
In the 70s, Phil Knight was watching a person named Burroughs. This person had done something that Phil liked. So he talked to him about making sneakers for people who ran.
They worked hard and in 1978 they made Nike Air Max trainers! These new shoes helped runners run better than before because of their midsole cushioning.
They were really great shoes at the time, but now there are even better ones!

The First Nike Air Max
Nike Air Max was born in 1978. The first design of the classic shoe had a large, visible air bubble on the sole. This gave it its ‘Air Max’ name and started a new era in sneaker style.
There were some problems with this early technology though. Sometimes the air would leak out or the sole would crack. But they continued to improve their design and eventually, the technology became the standout in the field.
Nike Air Max 90 Ultra 2.0 Flyknit “Oreo”
In 1987, Nike’s first product with visible air came out under the name of Nike Air Max. Developed by a designer called Tinker Hatfield, this new technology would offer maximum cushioning.
This sneaker was worn by some of the most iconic athletes in history, like Michael Jordan and Bo Jackson, and it has remained one of the best-selling sneakers ever.
Nike Air Max 1 (1988)

Nike Air Max 97 (1997)
This sneaker was created in memory of Steve Prefontaine, Nike’s iconic runner who died in a car crash back in the 70s. It features embossed logos on the tongue and heel and comes with different colored lenses.
The large volume midsole offers increased cushioning over previous models and is still loved and re-released today.
Nike Air Max TN (2000)
The Air Max TN was created for the Athens Olympic Games and came in a pack with three different colorways: blue, red, and white. This super special edition has even got reflective details.
It has even been spotted on celebrities like Kanye West and Pharrell Williams!
Nike Air Max 24-7 (2002)
This vintage version of Nike’s best sneaker comes in an old-school black/white/grey colorway with a vintage logo on the heel and tongue. The signature visible Air-Sole unit midsole comes in a dark grey tone while the outsole is white for a classic look.
Nike Air Max Buy Nz (2011)
This model was designed by none other than Tinker Hatfield, one of Nike’s most prolific designers! His design features an upper inspired by the iconic Huarache Trainer with reflective details and an external heel counter.
